Purpose and Mission
Base for Life Watchet is a non-profit community interest company set up by Watchet residents to tackle the local housing crisis. Faced with soaring rents, unaffordable new-builds and prices rising far above wages, many local people are unable to access even basic housing.
Base for Life Watchet will create affordable and secure homes to address the urgent housing needs of local people. The first priority is to create rental accommodation for individuals and families currently unable to access local housing.
Over time Base for Life will develop a diverse and flexible housing resource owned and managed by the local community.
Base for Life Watchet is working with the widest possible range of organisations locally, regionally and nationally to secure funding and support. But to make this work it needs the involvement of the local community.
We work to create affordable housing in Watchet for residents of all ages, and to support the continuation of families living in this historic community
We advocate for projects that solve Watchet’s housing challenges in balance with the economic realities and livelihoods of people based in this beautiful region
We support the Watchet community by listening to a broad range of voices on how to arrive at common-sense housing solutions for all
